The Victorian philanthropist Robert Downing had such high
ideals when he established the Mutual Thrift and Improvement
Society to help and encourage his employees.
But that was over a century ago, and during the intervening years the
Society has become really quite wealthy - a fact which the members
of the Committee have noticed.
And exploited.
But faced with a challenge from outside their ranks, and amid
the in-fighting, greed and betrayal, would any of them actually
stoop to murder to protect their past - or their future?
Whose guilt or avarice or jealousy could be so strong?
